Ferndale Pride festival to kick off Pride Month

Tens of thousands of people, hundreds of vendors, live performers and more will fill West Nine Mile Road for the Ferndale Pride festival June 1, the first day of Pride Month, in one of the largest celebrations in the state.

“We estimate we’ll have about 30,000 people through the day,” said Julia Music, event director for the festival.

Among the performing headliners is Wreckno, a rising electronic music gay rapper, DJ and producer, who will perform on the Stella Rosa performance stage.

“I’m excited by our (performance stage acts) who are all Michigan natives,” Music said.

Another big draw is DJ Holographic. She was born and raised in Detroit. Billed as a one-woman funk machine, she will perform on the dance stage.
