Ferndale, MI – The Ferndale Community Foundation and Ferndale Pride are distributing $24,500 in grants to 11 community organizations as part of its annual distribution.
Ferndale Pride made its return to 9 Mile this year. Under the leadership of Julia Music, the Executive Director of Ferndale Pride, the event remained free to the public and was able to give back to local charities. Proceeds from Pride were granted to the following organizations:
- Affirmations
- ACCESS
- Gender Identity Network
- Matrix Human Services
- TGDetroit
- Transgender Michigan
In addition, The Ferndale Community Foundation provided an additional five grants through its annual giving. The Community Foundation receives funding from proceeds from Ferndale Pride and private donations. The organizations which were awarded grants through the Community Foundation were:
- FernCare Free Clinic, Inc.
- Ferndale Community Concert Band
- Ferndale Senior’s Group
- Michigan Stage
- Southeast Oakland Coalition
“Events like Ferndale Pride and The Ferndale Pride Golf Scramble provide opportunities for LGBTQ people to enjoy life and find community. We are proud to bring the community together and to have given $350,000 over the past 13 years to local nonprofits. We are eternally thankful for the volunteers, sponsors, vendors and attendees who come together to keep Ferndale love and rainbows,” said Julia Music Executive Director Ferndale Pride.
