Erica Shantel Carter was born Eric Stanley Carter and nicknamed Ricky. She graduated from Murray Wright High School, where she studied cosmetology, communications, and drama. She is an alum of Second City and is a trained actress who has appeared in independent films, productions and plays both as an actress and a performance artist. She began the journey to make her childhood dream a reality by becoming a model at age 19, an actress, singer, producer, comedian, and all-around performer. Her musical style draws upon her personal experiences.
Her presence is extremely visible with a dramatic flair. She has a charisma that draws in the
audience and she loves the pronoun “Goddess.” She is currently working on her book “A Boy Called Ricky,” and her upcoming EP “The Suga Daddy Suite.”
She is originally from Southwest Detroit and as a black, post-op trans woman she possesses an outlook on life that is unlike most. She wants to be a provocateur of food for thought.
