Queer Icon B*tch to Headline Ferndale Pride.

b2ap3_thumbnail_10644461_10152910497238401_2527786471263187723_o.jpgFerndale Pride could not be more excited to have B*tch as our headliner this year!

B*tch (B*tch and Animal, B*tch + the Exciting Conclusion, John Cameron Mitchell’s Shortbus) is a queer icon who is a singer, producer, actress, entrepreneur and writer. She is known for her unique brand of electric violin, bass, ukulele and keytar rock. Her shows, like her name, are exercises in self-liberation.

Her new project, BEACH, is an upbeat show that intertwines her electric violin with feminist politics and involves an Alligator who triggers dance-y beats. BEACH makes hopeful, sometimes funny and poetically serious dance-y rock. Their first album, In Us We Trust, was released in 2013 on B*tch’s own label, Short Story Records.

B*tch first burst onto the scene with her band, B*tch and Animal, who toured the US and Europe with Ani Difranco and released two albums on Righteous Babe Records. B*tch debuted her solo material, Make This Break This, on the legendary Kill Rock Stars.  She starred as herself in John Cameron Mitchell’s (Hedwig and the Angry Inch) Shortbus, and her songs were featured on Showtime’s The L Word.

B*tch has also collaborated with the legendary folk icon Ferron, producing a full-length album of the artist called Boulder, which includes performances by Ani Difranco, Amy Ray and Emily Saliers of the Indigo Girls, JD Samson, (Le Tigre, MEN), Samantha Parton (The Be Good Tanyas), Julie Wolf, Geo Wyeth and Midtown Dickens.

Most recently, in collaboration with Billie Jo Cavallaro, B*tch produced, directed and released a full-length documentary and accompanying album, Thunder & Lighten-ing, also of Ferron.

Please join us in giving B*tch a warm welcome to Ferndale Pride as headliner of our Main Stage at 8pm on May 30th.
